Rochon Born from Torrance (a suburb of Los Angeles), is the daughter of Zelma Staples. Her parents are Samuel Staples a graphic designer and businessman. Cerritos was her home high school. She graduated in 1982. She received a bachelor of arts in broadcast journalism in 1986 from California State University Dominguez (CSUDH). Minors were the study of sociology as well as drama. In 2016, Rochon came back to CSUDH to be the main speaker at the commencement ceremonies for the College of Arts and Humanities

Ullerup played Julia Brynn in the 2006 remake of Battlestar Galactica, which was broadcast by Sci Fi Channel. The actress played Ashley Magnus on the Sanctuary TV series during its initial and second seasons, until it was canceled. Fans were enraged by her departure, and many were hoping to see her come back for future seasons. Sanctuary ended in 2012 but not before an intense controversy. Ullerup made an appearance on Chesapeake Shores as Bree O'Brien. Ullerup played Maggie Thomas, the estranged wife of Michael Thomas, in the disaster movie Asteroid: Final Impact (2015). Ullerup's role as a regular in Hallmark's Signed, Sealed, Delivered series has been Dale Travers since 2016.
