Patricia Velásquez
Creativity goes beyond images, canvas,
film, and media. It could also serve as a catalyst to philanthropy and charity
as well as activism. Award-winning actress, a history-making supermodel,
staunch philanthropist, conscientious activist writer, author, and mother of
two. Patricia Velasquez applies an eternal imaginative spirit to everything she
does, whether it's starring in blockbuster films like The Curse of La Llorona
or launching the Wayuu Taya Foundation and participating in the UNESCO Board.
No matter what, she achieves major advancements through drawing on her
intuition and deliberately paving her own pathway. "I view my career like
the length of a staircase," she said. "I have taken every step. It
was amazing to be able to do so, because there was a long-term effect. I wasn't
able to stop moving. simply sat down. This analogy is reminiscent of a
formative experience. After a few years she relocated to Venezuela. She was
born in Venezuela and grew up in France and Mexico. In South America, her parents
were employed in the field of education. They then moved the family into a
crowded apartment that had no water and inoperable elevators. To supply water
for the entire unit, Patricia often carried heavy buckets of water up 15
flights of stairs. She tried to assist her family in any way she could despite
her studies in engineering and intense dance classes. Being scouted for
modeling in Milan, the multi talented model's rise to the top of fashion rested
on a promise she made to those she loved. She recalls that she was asked to
travel to Italy by the fashion industry. "If I could pay thirty dollars
per month to Venezuela the cost would be worth it since that would cover every
single drop of water in the structure." Patricia's achievement was a major
moment in fashion as she brought attention to South America for first time. Her
"first model Karl Lagerfeld photographed" was an incredible
breakthrough. Her next step was to appear in shows, front editorial spreads,
and to be featured in advertisements for Chanel, Dolce & Gabbana and
Fendi. Her appearances on Oprah's Supermodel of the World contest and Ford
Models’ "Supermodel of the World” contest resonated across the globe. In
addition she appeared on the covers of Vogue, Bazaar, Marie Claire, and many
others.
